Tan Wei Keong’s animations explore his identity through personal storytelling and fantasy worlds.  He often combines photography, frame-by-frame drawings and photocopies, forming the visual world of his animated films.  Born in Singapore in 1984, he found his favourite medium in animation when he enrolled at Nanyang Technological University on a scholarship from the Media Development Authority of Singapore.  His first stop-motion film, White, received the Special Achievement Award at the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) 2007.  His graduation film, Hush Baby, was awarded Special Mention Award at the same festival in 2009.

His most recent film, Kingdom, has been selected to compete at the Berlin International Film Festival 2019 and was also the opening short film at SGIFF 2018.  His previous film, Between Us Two, received the Best Singapore Short Film award at SGIFF 2017 and the Grand Jury Prize Documentary Short at Outfest Los Angeles 2018.  His films have been selected at many prestigious film festivals worldwide, including those at Annecy, Zagreb, Edinburgh, Toronto, Stuttgart and London.  In addition to films, he has created a number of new media art installations, including Foundin, a public art installation relying on human interactions that debuted in Singapore at the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2014 and was featured in France at the Made in Asia Festival 2015.
